The Seven Stages of Successful Unemployment
Steven Zipkoff (First Flight Books, $14.95)
At first glance, successful unemployment seems like the most
flagrant of oxymorons. Who wants to be successful at unemployment?
Business consultant Steven Zipkoff puts the unlikely phrase to work so
well that by the end of the book, the reader will never again think of the
phrase as odd.
Mr. Zipkoff's delightful, irreverent book focuses on the seven stages
from "Hell to Hallelujah."
He pinpoints them as "Putting Up a Positive Front," "Accepting the
Fact," "Developing a Résumé," "Receiving Your Unemployment Benefits,"
"Creating a Plan," "Making It Happen" and "Hallelujah."
The author delivers nuggets of wisdom in a fun, even playful way. This
goes a long way toward dealing with the unpleasant reality of joblessness.
Steve Powers, a freelance writer in Burleson, reviews business books
for The Dallas Morning News.
